Organised by the Penang State Tourism Development & Culture, Esplanade In Action showcases a series of programmes on the first Saturday of every month at historical Esplanade in providing an insight to the culture of Penang through performances and activities as a form of entertainment which is opened free for all.



From cultural extravaganzas of performances, shows and dances in Malay, Chinese and Indian traditions to modern entertainment and leisure activities such as capoeira, miming, exciting drum performances, Bollywood Night, PESSBAND - Penang State Symphonic Band, the Lion Dance & Dragon Dance Competition, live bands and other local talents, to locally celebrated festivals such as Deepavali Concert, Hari Raya Adilfitri Concert, Lantern Festival and Halloween, there is always a different artistic and cultural activity held there.



So, come watch the many array of accessible performances available to you on the first Saturday of each month! Bring your family and friends to watch these performances underneath the starry night's sky with the gorgeously lit up picturesque Town Hall as its back ground and take in the nostalgic sights and wonderful sounds of George Town, Penang.



Have a thrilling time as enchanting traditional music fills up the atmosphere and if you're up for it, join in with the exciting dances and just let loose or sit back, kick off your shoes and relax to the enjoyment unfolding before you. Do bring along a foldable chair, if you have one, or better yet just throw out your batik cloth on the green grass to sit on and feel the night's breeze blowing through your hair as you enjoy the colourful performances of the night only at Esplanade In Action.

We attended the Esplanade in Action Event on 06th Feb .

It was a truly great evening, good dancers, sound system worked well & the weather was fine.

A lot of thought had obviously gone into the programme to emphasise the cultural mix and heritage of Malaysia & Penang. All the artists looked like they were really enjoying performing & it was very professional.

We live in Penang and this was one of the best free nights out we have had for a long time. Well done
