|MyCenTHE Program to Train Talents for Hospitality Industry|

KDU Penang has recently been selected as the cluster leader and education provider in the northern region by MyCenTHE or The Malaysia Center for Tourism and Hospitality Education. MyCenTHE is aimed towards improving the quality of tourism and hospitality education using a work-based learning module through collaborative partnerships between public and private sectors.
The launching of MyCenTHE’s Penang Cluster on 21 June 2012 at KDU College Penang. Industry partner for the program, Mr. Jamie Case, who is the Chief Operating Officer of E&O Hotel Penang, said the 5-Star establishment is than more than happy to be part of this special project and that this work-based learning module will definitely help produce better qualified talents for the hospitality industry. The program seeks for more collaboration with various hotels by training and paying the students’ allowance for 11 months under the work based learning module.
Dr Chong Beng Keok, Principal of KDU said, “KDU Penang is proud to have been chosen as the Northern Region Cluster Leader for the MyCenTHE education initiative. We are also confident that the new MyCenTHE Work Based Diploma in Hospitality Management that is being offered at KDU will further increase the accessibility of hospitality programs to students who come from families of the lower socioeconomic group, and this will go well in tandem with our current popular IMI Swiss Hospitality program”.
