An event jointly organized by the Penang State Tourism Development & Culture and ROOTS Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd, the Go Penang International 2010 is a total experience Mega Festival engineered to make your adrenaline rush and heart thumps throughout the three-day event with Go-kart and Food as one of the main attractions of the event.

GO Penang International 2010 is a three-day celebration to kick off the Visit Penang Year 2010 – 2012 - a platform for visitors to enjoy the distinctiveness and uniqueness of Penang in which we hope to attract more outstation visitors and foreign tourists to come to Penang for a good time and to enjoy all we have to offer them!

Ever since George Town's was inscribed as one of the World Heritage City by UNESCO for its beautiful array of historical buildings, Penang hogs the international limelight being recognized as a charming landscape fringed by architectural wonders, remarkable gastronomic delights and cultural richness.

We, Penangites are eager to share these entities of pride with every one of you. Just like its saying that Penang has everything under the sun, GO Penang International 2010 allows you to experience what The Pearl of Orient has to offer. A large amount of exciting elements has also been injected into the Mega Festival to showcase Penang, the picturesque World Heritage City you are familiar with in a different light. The activities we have lined up are customized according to various age segments and we are inviting everyone in the world to join us in this festival!

For go-kart, an experienced go-kart operator has been engaged to coordinate an exciting street competition demonstration by seasonal go-kart racers for the public's viewing pleasure. The crowd can then join in the excitement by taking part in the fun-kart activity which will be available for the public throughout the weekend event. A total of 40 go-karts will be brought into Penang, 30 of which are race-karts and 10 fun-karts!

Penang, once well known for its popular Grand Prix in the 1970's will once again be thrilled with an event involving motorsports after almost 30 years in which no other street motorsports was held here. Therefore, now the State Government would like to bring back the glory and the hype of motorsports to the streets of Penang! If this go-kart event is successfully held and supported by the public, we may just be able to look into bringing back Grand Prix to the Pearl of the Orient in the future. Watch out, because go-kart will be the first step to making a big bang in Penang! That particular weekend will definitely be a thrilling and unforgettable one for everybody as other than the go-karts, there will also be a variety of good food for all to savour on!

For the food festival, many kinds of delicious food will be available for all to enjoy especially from the list of Penang's 12 Best Foods Must Eat namely our world famous Char Koey Teow, Laksa, Hokkien Mee, Satay, Ais Kachang and more! More food vendors are welcome to join us during this event in order to offer more varieties of food for the public to enjoy while they experience the exhilarating event which also has many other activities in line for all to be entertained by. During that weekend, Esplanade is the place to be where all the good food around Penang will be gathered and available in just one place along with a string of action-packed activities.

Part of all that action is the Miss Umbrella Girl 2010 Pageant where the purpose of this pageant is to create a new breed of Umbrella Girls who oozes class and elegance and will be trained to be able to present, emcee and also become spokesmodels in order to mold them to achieve brand ambassador status. For beauties with talents, prove to the crowd that you are more than just eye candy by joining in the Miss Umbrella Girl Contest to challenge the status quo of a convention umbrella girl. Grand prize will walk away with attractive prizes and will be coached with live skills for public interaction at events and launches.

Prizes for the winner of Miss Umbrella Girl 2010 is worth a total of RM5,500.00 which includes a trophy, winner's certificate, Cover Girl opportunity with MODELLE Magazine, emceeing opportunity, house model listing with CK Models, Umbrella Girl opportunity listing with Yinyang Communications, Spokesperson training and media handling skills. Other prizes include total worth of RM1,500 for the 1st Miss Umbrella Girl Runner up and RM1,000 for the 2nd Miss Umbrella Girl Runner Up. Subsidiary titles will also be awarded to the girls with the Most Popular My Umbrella Girl, Most Photogenic, Most Impressive WHAT IS AN UMBRELLA GIRL presentation and Most Talented Umbrella Girl.
