Objectives
Beauty Pageant has since come a long way in Malaysia and today, it has reached a new era in the pageantry industries. Over the years, Pageants has gained tremendous responses from the general public and not forgetting the participants as well. It is also one of the main highlights among our local press.

The main purpose of this event is to develop positive attributes to the public and to promote healthy aspect of Tourism, Culture, Art and Heritage of Penang. Not forgetting, this is to coincide with Year End Celebration of PESTA Carnival 2008. Besides this, it is also to contribute towards the charity cause.



Note :
This year Miss Pesta Pulau Pinang would be an exceptional as there will be no Swim Suits Category. This is to encourage Multi Racial participation.

Promoting Penang:
All Finalists will be photographed in 6 different tourist spots in Traditional Costumes, to promote our Penang heritage sites inline with our recent status listed under UNESCO as one of the World Heritage Sites.
The places of attraction are listed as below:

THE Miss Pesta Pulau Pinang beauty pageant is making a comeback after a lapse of two years - albeit minus the swim wear round and some relaxing of contest rules.

State Tourism Development, Culture, Arts and Heritage Committee chairman Danny Law said the exclusion of the swim wear round was to encourage other races to participate.

“We want multiracial participants and we will ensure they are decently dressed,” he said at a press conference at Red Rock Hotel yesterday.

Contestants will take to the catwalk in traditional, sports, evening and casual beach wear,

The previous age limit of 26 has been removed and the contest is now open to those aged 18 and above.

“We do not care about age, as long as a contestant has a good character, poise, charm, personality and beauty,” he said.

He said the top five winners stand a chance to walk away with RM3,000, RM1,500, RM1,000, RM500 and RM300 respectively.

“Other prizes include health care equipment, a return flight ticket to Hong Kong, hotel stays and photo shoots, facial treatment and body spa vouchers,” he said.

Jointly organised by Penang State Tourism and Lions Club of Bayan Baru with Focal Concepts Sdn Bhd as event consultant, the grand finals themed ‘An Evening of Cultural Enchantment’ will be held on Dec 5 at Red Rock Hotel.

Law said a charity dinner would be held with 40 tables priced from RM1,000 to RM15,000. Proceeds will be channelled to the National Kidney Foundation and a few other charities.

An audition will be held on Nov 16 at Red Rock Hotel from 11am onwards.

There will be a photo shoot on Nov 22 at six heritage sites - Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, Khoo Kongsi, St George’s Church, Fort Cornwallis, Sri Mahamariamman Temple and Kapitan Keling Mosque - to promote George Town as a World Heritage Site.
