The Penang State Government will be participating in the World Travel Fair (WTF) in Shanghai, China at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre from 10 to 13 May 2012 to promote Penang as a tourism destination.

The Shanghai WTF has a history of 8 years and is one of the most influential purchasing platforms in the Chinese tourism industry, allowing overseas destinations and tourism related institutions the opportunity to showcase their products and services to the travel agents, corporate buyers and consumers in China. It features a B2B and B2C platform such as the “World Travel Fair Professional”, the annual business interactive trade platform and “World Tourism Carnival”, the annual travel products outlet. It promotes travel themes like vacation wedding, luxury travel, anniversary and honeymoon vacation, medical tourism, adventure tourism and shopping travel.

This year, the Penang State Government’s participation in the fair includes a cultural dance performance by dancers from the State Cultural Council (Majlis Kebudayaan Negeri) to showcase the art and culture of Penang. Other local organisations related to tourism, property development, bridal, hotels, education, Penang cultural attractions and the food industry will also be joining the Penang State Government in this travel fair.
