Multicultural and historic, with a wealth of living heritage passed down through generations, Penang’s George Town commemorates its fourth anniversary as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a three-day festival celebration packed with exciting events that will delight locals and visitors.

Taking place from 6 to 8 July, this year’s festival programme includes more than 20 cultural performances and showcases from local communities, open house of historical sites and homes, guided tours to the city’s heritage sites, heritage talks, arts and crafts showcases, and food bazaars. Listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO under three Outstanding Universal Values, this year’s George Town World Heritage Day Celebration is themed according to the three criteria cited for its listing, with each day of the festival devoted to one of the criteria: tangible and intangible heritage, multicultural exchanges, and architectural landscape.
