Date: 29th June to 1st July 2012
Venue: Eastin Hotel Penang
For the past 6 years, the ICT Penang Open has been organized by the Penang Scrabble Club; supported by the Penang State Tourism Board and Island College of Technology, Penang.
A total of RM 14,000 cash prize is up for grabs. The top prize USD 2000 has been defended by Nigel Richards, the current world champion and ICT Penang Open Champion for 4 consecutive years.
This year we will see top players from 10 countries namely Australia, Japan, India, Philippines, New Zealand, Nigeria, Thailand, Singapore, United States of America and host Malaysia competing in arguably the strongest playing field in ICT Penang Open’s history. This year also sees another first for ICT Penang Open: Round-by-round updates of the results will be broadcasted on the official Malaysian Scrabble website www.penster.com.my. The posting of annotated games at the top tables on CentreStar will also be adding to the excitement, allowing the global Scrabble audience to watch the games played here.
