Date: 7th & 8th August 2010 (Saturday & Sunday) Time: 10am - 11pm Venue: Fort Cornwallis This weekend, come experience amazing Thailand at Fort Cornwallis during the Thai Food, Fruits & Culture Festival! Jointly organised by the Penang State Government and Royal Thai Consulate-General of Penang, this is the very first Thai Food, Fruits & Cultural Festival in Penang! Highlights of the two-day event that will keep you entertained is the "Klong Yao" drum performance, "Muay Thai" demonstration - Thailand’s infamous national kickboxing sport, and finally, the delicate and graceful traditional dance performances by the Thailand dance troupe all happening during the Opening Ceremony at 6.30pm on Saturday as well as a Boria Competition on Sunday at 5pm! At the festival, authentic culinary traditions and cuisines of Thailand can be found among the 30 stalls, which includes vendors offering traditional thai massage, thai silk, pearl costumes, mango sticky rice, Thai Laksa, famous Betong Chicken Rice and more! Thai food is internationally well known for its requisite aromatic and tasteful flavour characteristics. Ingredients such as herbs, chilli paste and fish sauce are often used and already synonymous with Thai’s cuisine. Be it spicy, sweet and/or sour, each cuisine has its own unique way of preparation and taste that will sure to tantalize one’s taste bud.
