'The Sakura of Penang' as the Penangites are calling it, has been blooming all across Penang and Seberang Perai. One of the most beautiful sight of these trees is the one stretch which blooms in full flaunting glory along the road of Bayan Baru. Throughout the past two weeks, these budding cherry blossoms have been an ideal photographic background to loving couples, chummy friends and families all of which have a story to tell, as well as a perfect nature subject to many professional photographers.




Called the Tabebuia Rosea in scientific terms, these flowers sprout in colours of white, pink, and pastel purple leaving trails of fluffiness on the ground and making it the most eye-catching Penang scenery of the month.

George Town has been selected among "European expats' top 10 preferred Asian locations" where Europeans prefer to work and live in, according to a latest international location ratings survey.

George Town was ranked 10th in the annual Location Ratings Survey by ECA International and is said to be one of the handful of locations in Asia which offered a good standard of living.

The year 2008 proved to have produced good results for tourism in Penang, as last year saw the state receive 6.3mil in tourist arrival according to hotel statistics, which excludes tourists those who visit Penang on cruises, day trips, or live with friends & relatives, as compared to 5.1mil in 2007. The benefit of the increase comes from being ignited with the UNESCO World Heritage City status on 7th July last year.

Thanks to the newly launched Air Asia Direct flight from Penang to Macau, Penangites can now look forward to flying to Macau hassle free.
