DSC 4317he Northam Road Protestant Cemetery as identified in the Special Area Plan (SAP) is a Category I site located within the George Town World Heritage Site.


The site is a living expression of the socio-cultural roots of the establishment and growth of George Town and Penang, with tangible links to people, cultures, customs and historical events on the trade route between India and China. The significance of this site therefore is worthy of protection, conservation and interpretation in order to safeguard the Outstanding Universal Value of the overall UNESCO World Heritage Site.


Maintenance work for the site has been performed by Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang (MPPP) and Penang Heritage Trust (PHT) since the 1990s. The work...
