Time: 8.30am onwards 

The annual Merdeka Parade will be organized by the Penang State Governement on 31 August 2016 at Esplanade Penang from 8.30am onwards. The event is held to celebrate the Independence of Malaya, 59 years ago.

There will be over 150 contigents representing government agencies such as the State Secretary, JKR, MPPP, MPSP, District Office, PDRM, BOMBA, Angkatan Tentera Malaysia, ambulance, RELA, Scouts and many more will be marching in the parade.

The celebration will be graced by His Excellency, TYT Tun Dato’ Seri Utama (Dr.) Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abbas the Governor of Penang and the Right Honorable Y.A.B Tuan Lim Guan Eng, Chief Minister of Penang.
