PENANGITES are heading to coconut stalls and staying indoors longer than usual to cope with the unrelenting hot weather which has gripped major parts of the state in the past two weeks.

Many office workers were seen quenching their thirst at coconut stalls whose operators re-ported a sharp increase in sales while children cooled themselves at waterfalls to combat the heat wave.

Some households have installed sprinklers to water their gardens and regular joggers, when interviewed, preferred to exercise indoors rather than outdoors for the moment.

The hot weather with high humidity is forecasted to last until the middle of next month due to the change in the weather pattern, said a local weatherman when contacted.

“We only expect rainstorms by the middle of next month. For now, residents should restrain from doing strenuous activities,” a meteorological department spokesman said.
