PRESS RELEASE

PENANG FOODIE LAUNCHES SECOND BOOK!

This week, Penang’s official Food Writer, The Star Sunday Metro Columnist and blogger Helen Ong is launching the second edition of her popular restaurant guide, “Great Dining in Penang 2”.

The launch will be officiated by YB Danny Law Heng Kiang, State Exco for Tourism Development and Culture, on 30 June at Sigi’s Bar and Grill, Golden Sands Resort in Batu Ferringhi, one of the great dining outlets featured in the book.

Whether you are someone planning to visit Penang to explore the UNESCO World Heritage site of George Town and its surrounds, or a local Penangite, “Great Dining in Penang 2” will be an invaluable guide to where to go and eat.

The 160-page soft cover book gives you the low-down on more outlets, and, like the first, is packed with information and contact details together with many colourful, mouth-watering photographs. Once again, it includes the helpful “Fast Facts” column, presented in a new, easy-to-understand format. There are even some simple recipes for you to try out!

It includes forewords by the Chief Minister of Penang YAB Tuan Lim Guan Eng, YB Danny Law, and Chairman of Chefs Association of Malaysia Penang Chapter Audee Cheah.

About the Author

Helen is Penang’s official foodie, contributing reviews about the island’s hawker stalls and restaurants to the food section of the State Government’s website www.visitpenang.gov.my. She is a columnist for The Star’s Sunday Metro section, and writes regularly for several other publications as well.

Helen also blogs about what’s happening in Penang – check out www.helenong.com and read her reviews on the newest and latest outlets.

“Great Dining in Penang 2” (ISBN No: 978-983-43915-1-5), published by Helen Ong Publications, is a soft cover 17.8 x 25.4cm book. It will be available in selected bookshops, hotels and restaurants in Malaysia and Singapore at the RRP of RM28. For further details, contact Helen on 6012 492 8949.

“Great Dining in Penang” was launched in April 2008 and sold in popular bookshops all over Malaysia and Singapore. Almost all 3000 copies printed were sold out.

What some people said about it:

“Wow, I didn’t realise Penang had so many restaurants!”

– Suzie

“I didn’t know some of the places existed!”

– Mary

A very useful “Food / Restaurant Bible”, wonderfully convenient for

anyone who can’t decide what to eat and where! Even though we live in

Penang, we very often refer to it - so far we have not been disappointed!

Can’t wait for her 2nd publication!

– Anita
