PRESS STATEMENT BY YB DANNY LAW HENG KIANG, CHAIRMAN OF THE PENANG BRIDGE INTERNATIONAL MARATHON (PBIM) At the Penang Bridge International Marathon Medical Forum recently, we had three very special guest speakers: Dato' Dr Yee Thiam Sun (Medical Director for PBIM, State Commander of St John Ambulance Malaysia and Sports Physician), Dr. Lim Guan Choon (Cardiologist - Lam Wah Ee Hospital) and Ms Abbey Ong (Dietitian). This year will be the 3rd time we are organising the Penang Bridge International Marathon which will be held on 21st November 2010. After successfully gaining 19,000 runners in last year's run, we are hopeful to achieve 25,000 participants for the Penang Bridge International Marathon . In fact, we have started and is currently in the midst of our promotion on the registration for this marathon to secondary schools, colleges and factories throughout Penang. And in order to encourage the schools to have more of their students to take part, we are rewarding the top 3 school of the highest number of student participation with prizes: RM1,000, RM800 and RM600 respectively. Besides that, we fully urge for the corporate companies to sponsor their staff to join our run as a company activity and at the same time promote in making Penang a more health conscience city by participating the Penang Bridge International Marathon - the biggest running event in Malaysia. This year, once again, we have the Malaysian Open Category for the Full Marathon whereby the top 3 runners for the category was sent to Xiamen by the Penang Bridge International Marathon Committee early this year. Last but not least, I am happy to announce New Balance as our official apparel partner for the Penang Bridge International Marathon 2010 which we will be supplying New Balance running vests to the runners of the categories Full Marathon, Half Marathon, and the new 10KM run. |
