Date: 26th October 2011 (Wednesday) Time: 11.00am – 2.00pm “Rumah terbuka” or Open House is a significant feature of the Malaysian culture. During the various holidays and celebrations such as Hari Raya Aidil Fitri, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Christmas, it is common for families and organisations to host an open house. The guests include family members, friends (and even strangers!) from different religious and cultural backgrounds. This practice is truly unique to Malaysia and proves that Malaysia’s multicultural and multi religious society live in peace and harmony. This year, Deepavali, also known as the festival of lights; will be celebrated on the 26th of October (Wednesday) For the first time ever, Chief Minister of Penang, Y.A.B Lim Guan Eng and the Penang State Executive Committee Members will be organizing a Deepavali Open House to celebrate this colorful festival with the people of Penang. The open house will be held at Penang Times Square on 26th of October from 11.00am to 2.00pm. Everyone regardless of age, race, religion and creed are invited to join the celebrations. There will be delicious traditional Indian cuisines and performances to entertain you. Also, look out for a special Deepavali celebration at Penang Street, Little India, starting from the 22nd of October to 26th October, 7.00pm onwards sponsored by Digi. Popular Hip Hop Act Rabbit Mac and other performers will be making an appearance during the launching on the 22nd of October.
