In conjunction with the Penang 100 Years Chinese Association Grand Celebration, the Honorable Mr She Zhiling, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs of the Hainan Province and 25 delegates will be visiting Penang on 21 June 2012 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Penang State Government. The MOU is a mutually beneficial agreement that aims to cross-promote business investment, trade, tourism and culture and others in both states respectively.
The Penang State Government had also signed a mutual agreement with the Southern Metropolitan Daily, from Guangzhou to promote tourism and culture and other activities in China.
21 couples from Guangzhou travelled to Penang for their nuptial photos to be taken in George Town early this year, as part of the effort to promote Penang as a wedding and honeymoon destination. Dressed in Malay and Baba Nyonya attires, these couples used the Penang heritage site as the background for their photoshoot. The Penang State Government and Southern Metropolitan Daily will continue working together to promote Penang by developing unique tour packages such as Durian tour packages, golf packages and cruise tour packages.
