Date: 11th August 2012 Venue: Penang International Airport
This weekend, Firefly will be launching its inaugural flight to Koh Samui at the Penang International Airport. Form the 11th August onwards, Firefly will be flying directly to Koh Samui every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Currently, Firefly operates one daily direct flight between Subang and Koh Samui, a flight that enjoys an average seat factor of 75 percent with many repeat customers who return to Koh Samui year after year with Firefly. Therefore, the decision to introduce a direct flight between Penang and Koh Samui was in part due to the airline’s decision to leverage on the strength of its existing northern footprint and Penang’s fast-growing leisure market. Firefly is also targeting the foreign customers for this route, particularly from Middle-East, Japan, Korea and India who largely choose Penang as their preferred holiday destination during the summer seasons in their homelands. In addition to this, Firefly will also strengthen its current network with increased frequencies for its popular sectors. From its Penang hub, there will be an additional two flights to Subang, resulting in 68 flights weekly; whereas the Penang – Kota Bharu route will enjoy an additional four flights, resulting in seven flights weekly. From Penang, Firefly also offers scheduled services to Langkawi, Kuantan, Medan, Phuket and Banda Aceh, as well as scheduled charter services to Malacca and Nanning, China. ![]() |
