Venue: Teluk Bahang Dam

Time: 9am- 5pm

The annual Penang Pesta Dragon Boat Race is back this year, on 7 and 8 December 2013 at the scenic Teluk Bahang Dam. Watch the exhilarating sports of dragon boating as 30 local and international teams battle out for this anticipated race.

The categories for the competition is as below:

  1. Malaysia Premier Open – 500m (22 Racers) ~
  2. International Premier Open – 500m (22 Racers)
  3. International Premier Women – 500m (12 Racers)
  4. International Premier Mixed – 500m (12 Racers)
  5. International Senior 40 Open – 500m (12 Racers)
  6. International Junior U23 Open – 500m (12 Racers)
  7. International Junior U23 Mixed – 500m (12 Racers)
  8. Malaysia Premier Open Relay – 2 x 250m (12 Racers) ~ 
  9. International Premier Open Relay – 2 x 250m (12 Racers)
  10. International Premier Women Relay – 2 x 250m (12 Racers)
  11. International Premier Mixed Relay – 2 x 250m (12 Racers)
  12. International Senior 40 Open Relay – 2 x 250m (12 Racers)
  13. International Junior U23 Open Relay – 2 x 250m (12 Racers)
  14. International Junior U23 Mixed Relay – 2 x 250m (12 Racers)

Dragon boating has been around in Penang since the 1950s and it is part of Penang’s heritage. The sports promotes discipline, teamwork and perseverance.

Members of the public and welcomed to watch the race. Food stalls serving local delicacies will be available on the event day.
