Penang Tabla Society will be organizing FesTaal 2015, the largest and longest non-stop Tabla (Percussion drum) playing event which will be held at Fort Cornwallis on 15th August 2015 in conjunction with Georgetown Festival. FesTaal 2015 is a Malaysia Book of Records attempt for the largest and longest non-stop Tabla playing event!
The Festival of Taal 2015 will be a 2-hour showcase of Indian cultural heritage in the form of a fusion musical performance of Tabla, Veenai and Sitar which will be accompanied by Kathak and Odissi performance. This music and light show will also feature plays from the Chinese, Indian and Malay culture.
The highlight of the program will be the Beat of Passion show, a Malaysia Book of Records attempt for the largest and longest Non-Stop Tabla playing event which assembles 250 tabla players playing non-stop for 45 minutes.
There will be also a pre-event workshop 2 hours prior the main event on Tabla playing, Kathak dance and Sitar playing for the general public.
FesTaal 2015 aims to bring awareness to today’s youth in Indian classical music and dance. Through this initiative, the festival hopes to produce youths who are holistic in the academic, creative and spiritual development. The festival also aims to showcase the richness and uniqueness of the Indian classical music and dance to all Malaysians.
