VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE

What better way to start off our fortnightly restaurant write-ups than with one of the most popular places in town – well, Batu Ferringhi to be exact – the Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa’s Spice Market Café (SMC for those what know). Their nightly buffet has become synonymous with quality food, and it’s one of the places in town Penangites head for when they want to take friends or family for a really special night out.

Variety is the spice of life, and nowhere is it more true than here: their fresh seafood is second to none, with stacks of succulent prawns, slipper lobster, and creamy sashimi. There is always a good selection of local food available, although you can opt for northern Indian, western and other goodies, not to mention their "Theatre Kitchen", where you can select whatever is on offer for your delectation and have it wok'ed or fried up in front of you.

The dessert section is outstanding, with the eternal chocolate fountain, a huge selection of cakes and puddings, and it's even got a die-hard pudding fan like me beat, there's just so much of it!
