helen ong wagyu beefAs it was my good friend Ivy’s birthday, I wanted to take her somewhere very special, but which didn’t involve travelling too far — like to Singapore or KL, for example!

 

Obviously, being an evening occasion, it also had to serve good food in a smart, genteel environment, far from the madding crowd.

 

Where better then, than at 1885, the fine dining establishment of one of Penang’s most iconic inns, the E&O Hotel in Lebuh Farquhar.

 

Discreetly tucked away along the long corridor which links the new Victory Annex to the main building, this elegant restaurant was named for the year the hotel came into being.

 

Its understated presence has meant that it has maintained a low profile amongst the many outlets in town, but...

There in one part is Beach Blanket Babylon, a beach side bar and restaurant which is charming in terms of its outdoor setting with view of the sparkly sea.

There is a fair share of hotels in town celebrating the fasting month of Ramadhan and Hard Rock Hotel Penang is attracting its clientele with its Bintang Rock Buffet. Running from 9th July till 9th August 2013, diners can look forward to a buka puasa feast with great mixture of appetizers, main courses and desserts at the Starz Diner.



Prices for the Bintang Rock Buffet are very reasonable, at RM68++ per adult and RM34++ per child (4 – 12 years old) and it is available from 6:30 pm...
