lmbistro_1“Les Memoires” (French for memories) is an apt name for this little bistro situated at the newly renovated Loke Tye Kee Building. This brand new restaurant opened its doors on the 1st of January 2013, and has been attracting diners with their unique western-fusion dishes.

Head chef and owner, Penang-born Chef Aames Ang puts his own touch and twist to classic western dishes; drawing influences from his Malaysian Chinese-Indian heritage and also his previous culinary-career in Australia and the Pacific Islands.

For starters, we had Salmon Carpaccio served with Asian Vinaigrette and Micro Cress, a Chef Aames’ orginal. The salmon is complimented with a bowl of  traditional Minestrone Soup (Soup of the Day). This simple starter is...

GEORGE TOWN, Dec 17 — It had to happen, although it took someone with vision and drive to do it: a restaurant in Penang which serves Nyonya food in elegant, classy surroundings. Chris Ong, who has been upping the ante as far as boutique hotels here are concerned – he is the creator of the charmingly-restored Clove Hall, plus the casually chic Muntri Mews and Noordin Mews – has added yet another feather to his cap: Seven Terraces on Stewart Lane.

The air-conditioned...

Ferringhi Garden Restaurant is one of only a few garden restaurants in Penang. I have been visiting this restaurant since 2008 and glad to say that it is going stronger each year.

For this year Christmas celebration, the restaurant has everyone in a festive mood with its exterior and interior decorated with festive lights. The front section of the indoor dining area has a gorgeous displayed of Christmas trees, gingerbread houses and varieties of lovely hand-crafted ornaments...

Sadly, as modern day living takes over, one doesn’t seem to have the time for such leisurely meals any more. That’s why I was delighted to hear that at...
