“There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea” - Henry James

If there’s one thing Eurasians do well, it’s enjoying their food, and Penang’s Eurasian community is no different. Come 1 July 2012, you’ll be able to sample all their wonderful food at the Eurasian Fiesta, held as part of the annual George Town Festival. The Fiesta will take place at the Pulau Tikus Church Hall in Burmah Road. Watch this space for more news.

However, for a taster, how about trying out their “Eurasian Afternoon Tea”, the first of which will be held on Saturday 23 June at the Penang Eurasian Association’s Heritage Bistro in Solok Serani, off Kelawei Road. Eurasians, being of mixed backgrounds, loved their European heritage. One of their most endearing rituals was traditional Afternoon Tea with scones, cream horns, cream cakes and other yummy delights accompanied by a piping hot pot of tea.  How delightful!

It starts at 3.30pm, and will preview a bit of what you can expect at the Fiesta. Go along and try some traditional Eurasian cakes and delicacies. Booking is essential, as the place is not massive. Price is RM20 per pax.

For details or reservations, contact organizer James Rozells on 017 486 1885 or the PEA Heritage Bistro on 016 426 5090.
