Vistana Hotel in Penang will be running a full Ramadhan buffet from 21st July till 17th August 2012. With a "Traditional Kampung Nelayan theme, the buffet offers a spread of over 120 hearty and light traditional kampung dishes.
There is plenty of appetizers. Besides choices of ulam, there are other appetizers such as kerabu ulam and acar rampai. Over in the buah jeruk (preserved fruit section) are varieties of nutmeg, mango, papaya and ampala.
The main courses feature meat and seafood in aromatic curries. Daging paprik, rendang daging, daging masak hitam, ikan pari masak Asam pedas, gulai daging kampung, gulai lemak ikan masin, ayam goreng madu, ketam masak lemak, ikan tenggiri goreng berempah, ayam percik and ikan kari bendi are some of the specialties. Crunchy crackers of keropok ikan and keropok udang are available to go with the curries and rice.
From the warong (cooking stalls), there are options of chicken and beef satay, roti jala and chicken murtabak with chicken curry. Other notable dish is the kambing panggang (roast whole lamb) served with lamb gravy and mint sauce.
The vegetable dishes include kacang panjang goreng berlada, sayur kobis kunyit, sayur lodeh bersama tempe, ubi kentang Maksala, pajeri nenas, telur dadar and sambal telur.
An assortment of colourful desserts come in a mixture of Malay and Nyonya kuih muih, bubur kacang hijau, local fruits, ice cream, ais kacang and creme caramel.
The Ramadhan buffet is priced at RM45 nett (per adult) and children between six to 12 are charged RM30 nett.
