Diners who appreciate homemade Yong Tau Fu made from mackerel fish paste will find the menu at Sawara Restaurant inviting. The restaurant which specializes in steamboat has two outlets, one located in a corner shop house along Burma Road in Pulau Tikus area and another branch at Krystal Point in Bayan Lepas. 

The menu offers specialty homemade fish balls, fish roll with celery, stuffed beancurd sheet and fish scoop. Other standards steamboat ingredients include beancurd, mushroom, vegetables, quail eggs, chicken, jelly fish, cuttlefish and thick chunks of fresh fish.

 Beside the steamboat, Sawara do serve side dishes too. Popular food items are deep-fried Yong Tau Fu and pork roll, better known as Sawara Char Siew. Dip with some sourish and spicy homemade chili sauce, both is delicious to bite on while waiting for the soup of the steamboat to boil.

The steamboat comes in a big pot of soup, flavorful with sweetness from chicken bones and the many ingredients boiling in the pot. The soup gets richer as it boils and perfect to go with beehoon, Shanghai mee, wantan mee and rice.

Ala carte items are available during lunch hours while helpful set steamboat menus at RM88 and RM168 are available during dinner hours. There is even an exclusive set which comes with Australian abalone, sea cucumber, fish maw, scallop and fish head besides the standard dishes of the set menu.
